Signum Average is free to read, carries no advertising and takes no money from governments, political parties or campaign organisations. It is meant to be paid for by the people who read it.

What support pays for
- Data. Most of what we use is free. Some of the best is not: ship tracking, satellite imagery and market data cost money.
- Time. A study takes weeks: collecting the data, testing more than one method, and checking every figure against its source.
- Independence. With readers paying, nobody else has a say in what we publish.
Other ways to help
- Cite and share. Every article has a "Cite this work" section with a ready-made citation.
- Check us. If you find an error, tell us. Corrections are logged in public.
- Send data. If you hold data or context that would improve a study, get in touch.
